So I believe The Oscars are coming up.
Despite the unfortunate monochromatic line up of nominees this year, I am looking forward to an evening spent scrutinizing outfits, jewelry, make-up and hair.
Seeing these Best Actress Nominees on the small screen is one thing, but what if you were to run into them on the street? What would they be like? What would they be wearing? How would they disguise themselves or not?
This is what I imagine:
Saoirse Ronan (nominated for her role in Brooklyn). Stunning, piercing blue eyes. An ethereal presence. She seems to float on air. I gave her these Reinstein / Ross Sapphire Drops to play with the airy, dreamy color of her eyes and translucent complexion. She’d be wearing elegant flats and a thrift store sundress.
Cate Blanchett (nominated for her role in Carol) would be in a huge hurry. Serious expression. Streamlined outfit of black pencil pants and a crisp white shirt. She wouldn’t have much time to talk, but I would notice her wearing these Annette Ferdinandsen Blackened Sea Fern Earrings. Something edgy, earthy and on the casual side to contrast with her dark rimmed eyes and bobbed blond hair:
This woman. Wow. What a career. What intensity. Charlotte Rampling (nominated for her work in 45 Years) exudes a calm, fierce and powerful presence. I would spot her sitting in a dark bar sipping on a whiskey. Straight up. I think I would probably avoid eye contact. But I’d notice her wearing these Elena Votsi Black Diamond Heart Earrings. Sharp and distinctive, these earrings also have a soft side symbolizing the universal feeling of love.
And this one. Can you even imagine spending a night out with her? Alotta beer, some late night fast food and drunken karaoke. Jeans, no make-up, a tee or sweatshirt and Chuck Taylors. Jennifer Lawrence (nominated for her role in Joy) personifies the friendly Kentucky girl-next-door. To express her feminine side and down-to-earth nature, she would no doubt be wearing these Judy Geib Tapered Emerald Earrings. And we won’t mention that they (and her messy hair) are a remnant from her wild night before.
Brie Larson (nominated for her role in Room) seems like a quiet one. I think she and I would have a glass of wine and split a charcuterie plate. Then jazz at a little club. Or maybe go and listen to favorite author do a reading. I think she would wear jeans, black fitted sweater, messy bun and boots. These Pippa Small Pink Tourmaline Posts would add a splash of feminine color.
